How:1) Writers/ Photographers will fo and work on the things that we talked about doing yesterday
2) Design team will continue working on what was discussed yesterday with your designs 3) Senior Picture Editors will ccontinue to organize their things to be prepared when more come in 4) EIC and Managing Editors will meet with eachother to discuss and plan 5) $20 J-Day money is due by Oct. 10

What:Writers/ Photographers; come together to discuss what materials you have gathered, if event has occured, if not then discuss your plan to tackle this assignment. Why:We need an action plan to make sure that things run smoothly in the beginning so it will stay running smoothly. How:1) Students will get a computer and log onto their Google Drive, to insure that everyone has access to the yearbook folder
2) Look at the yearbook calender, and see who theri partner is 3) Pair up with your partner and begin discussing 4) Pamela and Kris, look at what the sports' schedules look like and begin assigning those; by end of class 4) $20 for J-Day is due by Oct. 10 What:Today groups will finish presenting their arguments and include your visuals! Why: We need to wrap it up and decide what theme to use, so we can officially begin. How:1) One team will begin to present, then the next
2) Final class vote 3) DALLAS MONEY DUE TODAY What:Today students will decide as a class what theme we want for our book. Why:In order to have a main idea to go based off of when creating your spreads. How:1) Both groups will finish presenting their theme ideas
2) Students will be reintroduced to their stories, and reminded of what they should be doing 3) $101 DUE MONDAY FOR DALLAS What:Students will finish the critiques of eachother's work. Why:To make sure that eveyone has feedback on the stories that they wrote. How:Meet together in first part of class, and discuss the rest of the stories that we did not get to on Tuesday.
What:Students will begin to critique eachothers work on the stories that are due NOW. Students will also learn about the oppritunities for the Dallas trip this November. Why:To gain feedback for what you could improve on and what you you did well. How:Students will gain feedback from classmates on the spread they have made.
1) Dallas trip meeting for first few minutes of class 2) Start presenting spreads What:All students will keep with the work that they have been doing. They will also be given new stories to start working on, and design will start creating their designs. Why:We need to become comfortable with working on multiple things at once, while maintaining deadlines. How:Students will meet within the first ten minutes of class, and will be introduced to their new stories.
1) Students will have a clear understanding as to what their new assignment is 2) Begin to work on new/ old assignments; design team come together to start creating the visuals you would like to have in the book 3) Pamela begin on the sales log 4) In last ten minutes of class, photography team meet with Evie so you know what to expect for this year 5) Don't forget that your one page spread is due TOMORROW 6) Parent meeting for Dallas tonight! 5:30-6:30 What:All students will learn by the end of class through an activity that helps them determine which stories are worth pursuing and how to recognize when a story isn't going anywhere. Why:We need to know how to turn up a story or when to let go of one...lets keep our writing powerful and worth reading. How:Sawyer, our copy editor, along with former copy editor Shaunice Burley, will lead students in an activity determining edgy/exiciting and wholesome/familiar.
1. While they are setting up: grab a computer, take a typing test, choose "Rules of Baseball", afterwards write down your time and give to O'Ryan. Typing Test: /www.typingtest.com/ 2. Get into groups assigned by Sawyer. 3. Don't forget that your one page spread is due at the beginning of class on Tuesday!! What:Students will critique and justify the stories written of their peers, and by the end of class determine those stories that are egdy/new and those that are examples of familiar/wholesome. Why:Our writing needs to be focused on stories that are exciting, edgy, provides a fresh perspective of the subject for our audience, and is visually supported through photos...if we can't do this, then what are we doing? How:Students will get into groups and read/go over each spread. To lead the conversation, students will focus on the following topics:
What:All students will learn by the end of class how to interview and photograph an event successfully for the yearbook. The moment: community day at GWHS. Let's go find those stories. Why:This is what we do...visually and narratively document each event at GW. Let's do this as a team. How:Students will decide who interviews and who photographs. The event is taking place throughout the school where community groups are offering freshmen opportunities to volunteer to their community.
